Greater New Milford Children’s Business Fair

Observe the opportunity for children to launch their very own startup business!
Kids develop a brand, create a product or service, build a marketing strategy, and then open for customers at our one-day marketplace.
We will host ~30 booths at the 2nd annual Greater  New Milford Children’s Business Fair at JOhn Pettibone Community Center on Saturday May 11th, from 12:00PM – 3:00PM. The Fair will be located in the Gymnasium.
This event is sponsored by Acton Academy, the Acton School of Business, and the generous support of our donors and volunteers.  We all believe that principled entrepreneurs are heroes and role models for the next generation.
Whether an entrepreneur is famous like Elon Musk or Oprah Winfrey or they are one of the thousands of unsung business owners across this country, these are the people who make sacrifices to innovate, create jobs and serve their communities.

Penny Plus Auction

Hundreds of items are up for bid and it costs you just pennies per chance to win! Woman’s Club members donate new and lightly used items for this fun and inexpensive event. Enjoy a chance at our raffle drawings for bundled items or prizes and have a snack made by the Woman’s Club members.

How does it work? Purchase one or more sheets of tickets, choose items that you would like to bid on, and place bidding tickets in the numbered cup for that item for the chance to win it. If you really like an item, you can put in multiple tickets to give yourself a better chance. Sheets of 25 tickets are just 3 sheets for $5! Each sheet includes a door prize ticket as well.

Don’t forget to get something to eat while you’re there. The Woman’s Club members will be selling a variety of options for your snacking enjoyment.

All proceeds benefit the Woman’s Club of Greater New Milford, whose general fund sponsors scholarships and community programs.

Shoe Drive – Fundraiser

GFWC Woman’s Club of Greater New Milford (wcgnm.com) is conducting a shoe drive fundraiser on February 15th– April 15th to raise funds in order to build a community garden for the Food Bank of New Milford. WCGNM will earn funds based on the total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes collected, as Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the collected shoes. Those dollars will benefit Food Bank of New Milford to help those who are experiencing food insecurity. Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used and new shoes at points located on our Facebook page.

All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise (small business) partners. Funds2Orgs works with micro-entrepreneurs in helping them create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited. Proceeds from the sales of the shoes collected in shoe drive fundraisers are used to feed, clothe and house their families. One budding entrepreneur in Haiti even earned enough to send to her son to law school.

“We are excited about our shoe drive,” said Shannon Richard, President, WCGNM. “We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets they would like to donate to us. By doing so, we raise money to help those who are food insecure in New Milford, also allowing us to have the chance to help families in developing nations who need economic opportunities. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

By donating gently worn, used and new shoes to the Woman’s Club of Greater New Milford, the shoes will be given a second chance and make a difference in people’s lives around the world.
